Sister to Sister Maternal Support Network

A community support system for safer pregnancy

The Sister to Sister Maternal Support Network is MHRI’s grassroots implementation model. Female community volunteers identify pregnant women, provide trusted health information, support ANC attendance and use KoboToolbox forms to record visits and flag concerns.

What Sisters do

  • Identify and register pregnant women in their communities.
  • Encourage early and regular antenatal care.
  • Share approved maternal health education.
  • Track appointments and follow up missed visits.
  • Refer urgent concerns to participating health facilities.
  • Submit field data for programme monitoring.
Important: Sisters do not replace trained health professionals. They provide community support and facilitate timely connection to qualified care.
